I am hoping to change my 'From' email address in Mail.app in Lion. I have my own SMTP credentails to use my own domain email address in gmail. I would love to use this same 'from' address in Mail.app, but I cannot work out how this works. Is this possible? I want to stop having my Gmail address being shown when I use Mail.app. Apple's Mail app is my email client of choice, but using multiple email accounts on it has brought me to the same frustrating issue: sending email from the wrong account. If your email address ends with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com, you can't change your Apple ID to a third-party email address. You also won't see Change Apple ID on your account page or the option to delete your email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 10.3 or later. If you only have one or two accounts in Mail, then you can skip this step, but if you have many Mail accounts, transferring Keychain makes using the new Mac easier. Before you copy the Keychain files, it's a good idea to repair or verify the file to catch any possible errors.

You might be prompted to add an email account before you can change the setting in Mail. If you don't want to do that, check the preferences of the other email app. You might be able to set a default email app from there.
